Here’s what Rolling Stone had to say about Naomi Klein’s New book, The Shock Doctrine: “

“It’s a chilling, important book, and anyone who wants to understand how the world really works—not to mention how the war on terrorism has made the likes of Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney extremely wealthy men—should read it immediately.”Rolling Stone

WHAT???
Ok, I don’t get stirred up very often, but this is ridiculous.

“Currently, more than half a million Americans living in our nation’s capital have no congressional voting rights. They have no vote for jobs, no vote for health care, no vote for education or any issue debated and voted on by the U.S. Congress.”

After you watch the video, click on the link after the video and send a letter to some Senators. These are the simple things we can do to make a difference.

Folks, we have a responsibility to educate ourselves. Not only do we have an election year coming up, with candidates on both sides jockeying for position… we have a personal, local, and global sustainability issues. We simply cannot continue to consume the way we have for most of our lives, and expect things to not change. One of the biggest areas of concern is our fossil fuel consumption, and the polluting of our planet. We do not have enough resources to sustain our lifestyles, or conserve the earth and it’s precious resources for the next generation. And I for one will not stand by and do nothing about it. From this point forward, I invite you into a movement of change!

We have been sidetracked with so many ideas and belief systems causing us to focus on what God wants, all claiming to have the answer. If you choose to not look at history as an example, or the many warning signs all around us, you might as well just stay comfortable in your churches and homes, and believe that you will ride out whatever storm comes, because you have it all figured out, and your god is on his throne ultimately protecting you from future harm. If the issue in our world is simply what religion or belief is right, then we lose! Because as history shows us, and my friend Lost Girl reminded us recently, whenever we have power linking arms with religion, we can cause some very disturbing atrocities.

I choose to be a part of a peaceful movement of people who are sick of going through the motions, whether they are religious or political… and ready to actively start pursuing change and the creation of a better world. It is our responsibility, and this is our time. You have the choice to stay comfortable… or get out of your comfort zone and be the change you want to see.
